Auburn Homecoming weekend

For the first time in 2 seasons, Jennie and I got to go to an Auburn game. Its sad that this was such a big part of our lives the first few years we were married and now we don't get to do it as often, but it makes trips like this much sweeter.

We wanted to take Houston to his first game and this weekend proved to be the best time to do it. The original plan was to head out early Saturday morning and get to Auburn in time for Tiger Walk. However, fearing we would not have time to do all we wanted to do, at the last minute, we decided to go on up Friday afternoon. This posed a small problem of what to do with Sam, but one call to our good friends who live in Auburn and Sam had a room booked at Camp Williams for the night with her friends Maisy and Scooter. So, with an added pep in our step, Jennie and I

scrambled around, got David to Gigi, packed the car and got on the road.

The ride up was uneventful and we had a good visit with our friends when we got there. Sam was glad to see her friends as well. Then, it was off to the hotel to check in and unpack. Once this was complete, we headed to Tenda Chick and then off to the Auburn Basketball exhibition game. We got to the game at the half and almost like we had planned it, Party in the USA by Miley Cyrus started playing as we were descending to our seats. This obviously made Jennie and Tucker very happy kerbert. We didn't stay long, but the kids got into it and got to see Aubie pretty close up.

Then, it was off to Anders to get Tucker a new jersey. After spending 20 minutes or so in there and having 2 mini-meltdowns, it was time to get these boys home. So, we headed back to the hotel and packed it in for the night.

The next morning, we packed up, along with our friends the Faulks and the Dykes (who were staying at same hotel) and headed to the tailgate. Mr. Dykes had purchased a primo parking spot on eBay which placed us directly across the street from the stadium. There were also plenty of open spaces for the kids to play football and soccer in. We walked down to the Tiger Walk and were able to get pretty close and give the kids a good view of all the players and coaches. Then, it was back to the tailgate for a few more chicken fingers, chips and dip and before we knew it, it was game time.

We got in to the stadium in time to see the players still on the field. The kids seem to like watching the band come running out and of course were fascinated by the eagle flying directly over our heads. But, can you blame them? That is only the coolest thing any team at any sport on any level does before a game. Sorry Colorado, this is much cooler than your buffalo.

After this, it was all downhill. The sun was out in full force and the boys were hot quick. Mama saved us for the first half by going and purchasing frozen lemonade which brought them back to life for a while, but by the time it was 35-3, the boys were ready. So, we made a move for the exit, to our car, picked up Sam and were headed home in time to listen to the majority of the Alabama-LSU game on the way home.

It was a great day. Auburn really is a special place for us and this trip, like that have come before it, sparked the conversation of how/when do we move to Auburn. So, don't be surprised...
