Labor Day

For the second straight year, we went to the beach with Jennie's whole family.  Now, her family is not near as big as mine, so its not as bad as it sounds.  Plus, the place we rent is huge so everyone has their own space.  Of course, we took up more space than anyone with three kids.  We were allowed to stay in the master suite which was nice because it had a closet big enough for us to put the pack n play in for David.  So, it worked out well.  The boys had a ball for the most part.  Granted there were several meltdowns here and there, but mostly everything went smoothly.  We spent more time in the pool than the beach.  The boys seem to like the pool better.  They come by that naturally.

Tucker really made some huge strides as far as swimming and finding some independence in the water.  I bet he jumped off the side 100 times.  He would jump, swim to the steps, climb out and repeat.  Houston, of course, had no fear of anything and was ready to jump in as well.  He spent a good bit of time in the inner tube and holding on to someone.  I imagine he will be swimming by next Labor Day.

The menu was simple, yet solid.  The first night  we bought a bunch of boiled shrimp and just peeled and ate along with Gigi's cocktail sauce and slaw.  It was excellent.  Other than that, we mostly stuck to the place and ate Mexican Connection chips and salsa, Dobb's turkey salad sandwiches and ham.  Tucker mostly ate Cinamon Toast Crunch cereal.

The last night, we took a gamble and went across the street to the Shaggy Marlin to get some takeout.  It was pretty good and gave us a backup plan from here on out.

As we were leaving, Hurrican Gustav was brewing in the gulf.  I put some pics at the bottom showing the beach before and after.  No worries though.  We didn't even get any rain until we got back to Dothan.
