Shell Island

Jennie thought it would be a good idea to take the boys down to Shell Island for the day. We have been wanting to get back down there for a while and it seemed like a great idea. So, we loaded up the two boys in Papa's truck and headed off. We put the boat in at the state park because of its proximity to Shell Island. After packing all our gear in the boat and lathering up in sunscreen, we headed out.

The weather could not have been more perfect. I know this is going to sound strange, but it actually felt cooler down there than it did at home. There was a nice breeze blowing and when you got in the water, it felt even better. After riding around for a while, we picked a spot that had a good shallow area to play in and would be a short walk across the island to the gulf side. The boys had a ball. They picked up hermit crabs, sea urchin and sea shells. In fact, Tucker and Jennie would probably still be there picking up shells if we let them.

After several hours in the sun, we decided it was time to head back in. So, we packed everything up and headed back. However, since all we had done was snack a little bit, we decided we needed to stop at J. Michaels before we pointed north. Like always, it was spectacular.

A short trip but the boys really enjoyed it and we hope to make more in the near future.
