Family vacation

Mooma decided it was time for another family vacation.  The location was LaGrange, GA.  What is in LaGrange you say......more than you think.  There is a wild animal safari, a place to dig for ancient artifacts and even a place to simulate The Last Supper with Christ.  Obviously, all the kids didn't attend all the events.

The wild animal safari is pretty neat.  Mooma had arranged for a bus for just our family.  This thing is pretty cool.  You can really get up close to the animals.  They even stick their heads in the windows to take the food from you.  There are deer, camels, bulls, bison, water buffalo, camels, giraffes, a liger and even a rhinoceros.  The kids had a ball feeding the animals.  It was a lot like the safari at Animal Kingdom at Disney, but with worse surroundings and better animal interaction.

From here we went to dig for ancient artifacts and take a tour around a courtyard that was built to look like what things were like during Jesus' times.  It was pretty neat and the kids really enjoyed digging in the sand and uncovering neat items.  This is also where the little kids made their exit.

After the tour, we went inside for a "reclining meal" that was supposed to be like the last supper.  We ate some new foods, learned some old traditions and had a good history lessons of what it was like back then.  No utensils are allowed, even for the salad.  They did have indoor plumbing which was a plus.

The next morning we all packed up and drove over to Columbus to see the National Infantry Museum.  This place is amazing.  It is huge and has all kinds of great items and things for kids to do and look at.  All the kids got a chance to dress up like real army soldiers.  The older kids got to shoot a simulated machine gun.  This was the highlight of the trip for many of us.  If you haven't already been here, you really need to go.  It is really incredible and well done.  We don't have many pictures of this because they don't allow flash photography, but click below to see pics from the trip.
